We arrived in Jakarta yesterday and had a 40 minute
walk from the train station to our Airbnb. We couldn’t find the bus stop so
after about half hour of searching we just decided to walk it which was
another 40 minutes but it’s worth it because our place has an amazing pool right here. So we’re just on our way to breakfast in
Central Jakarta and one of the main streets is normally filled with traffic
constantly and it’s completely closed and this just like marches going on Where do you want to eat? We have Katsu Don, which is like a
chicken katsu with some egg and rice. We’ve got some boiled gyoza and a chicken ramen. Although Jakarta is one of the most
densely populated cities, there’s hardly any parks or public spaces to sit down, but what
it lacks in green spaces it makes up for in shopping centres. We’ve spent about
four hours in a shopping center today it was like 11 stories high – shops, shops, shops. It’s like a maze It’s like, you know, Trafford Center times a
million. People just spend a whole day there and we have spent four hours there
buying absolutely nothing apart from coffee and food. We’ve just had some erm, Nasi… kind of like Nasi Goreng their like curry
noodles and then we had a special.
It was good.
It was good. a special which kind of had some beef I think it was called Mie Asur. It’s like beef,
steamed rice and then it came with a fish soup which tasted a lot like
lemongrass but it was quite hot and nice. And now we’re just sat outside. WE ARE SAT OUTSIDE. We’re just sat outside
like a desert place which is like a red container – they’re called Martabak Gokil
and we’re going to have a Roti Bakar Ovalmatine Keju which we think is an
Ovaltine sandwich with cream cheese or ice cream or normal cheese
so it’s actual cheese We’ll see. So it’s actual cheese. spin it around for me oh yeah nailed it It’s good.
Does it taste good? It tastes good. It’s like It doesn’t really taste like Ovaltine, it’s like Nutella spread on toast and then with cheese on which sounds disgusting but it’s
actually really nice It gives a bit of a saltiness to it a bit like salted caramel but cheese We’re saying goodbye to Jakarta and in 8 hours We’ll be in Yogyakarta which is also known as Yogya?
Yoghurt 8 hours to go We’re having to improvise for breakfast Morning
Morning We have arrived in Yogyakarta, just having some breakfast The sandwich is good. When did we get to Yogyakarta, two days ago?
Yep and our homestay is amazing so we haven’t really left it’s
got a lovely pool.
Hello a nice terrace, you just get breakfast brought to us in the morning it’s just been really nice to relax after crazy Jakarta but we’ve decided today that we definitely need to get out and explore a
bit so we’ve gone to the Water Palace which was cute, nice. We nearly got scammed but now we’re just walking down this really
Stop a sec. I feel like you’ve missed all the bit of it by filming us.
Oh so I’m not meant to film us. I have to film the stream so goodbye.
This is me filming as instructed Nah it does look cool Hello
So now because it’s really hot
we’re gonna go grab a coffee and sit in some air-conditioned room area I wanted a Milo since getting to Singapore
I haven’t had one yet and this is an iced Milo and I’m so excited I can’t
wait We’re about to leave our lovely homestay in Yogyakarta. We haven’t really done much here apart from lay by the pool it’s
been really nice we are going to do a Mount Bromo and Ijen tour so that basically
involves trekking up Mount Bromo seeing the sunrise and then we go straight from there to Mount Ijen which we have to do at midnight I think it’s only like two places in the
world where you see blue fire coming out of a volcano at night which sounds
awesome so yeah well we’re gonna be doing that so we’re gonna be slumming it
for a couple of days in gross hostels but I’m sure that the views that we get
all just be absolutely insane we’ve got an 8 hour train journey again
I think there’s no aircon in this one as well so this one’s gonna be it a tough one it’s gonna be a struggle
